March is Sketchbook Month – Day 1

Cedric Hohnstadt has declared March as sketchbook month. “A sketch a day keeps the competition away” Quite a few people are participating in this month of sketching. Go ahead and check out the site at March Is Sketchbook Month.  My goal here is to make sure that I’m sketching every day. I support this idea as the best way to get better.  So enjoy a month long journey through my sketchbook and random doodles.

Goblins like to fish..everyone knows that.

Here is a fun little drawing that I have been working over the last couple of days off and on.  I finally painted it yesterday!  My new scanner is here, the Epson Perfection V600.  This is a wonderful scanner! This piece was scanned in multiple parts and stitched together.  Enjoy!

Drawing with Nicholas – Artcast

Hey friends!  I’m proud to announce that I have started an artcast.  The artcast will run a couple times  week. (Schedule TBA).  What is an artcast you say?  Well and artcast is a live broadcast of me making art captured either my webcam or screencapture.  Anyone is welcome to join in the chat and sketch along with me or simply hangout and discuss life.  My broadcasting is on Ustream, although you don’t need an account to view the broadcast.

I shall be sketching master paintings and drawing, and working on my person projects.  Come join the fun!

A Gnome Works At Our Pub

A Gnome works at our Pub. Yes, it is true.  Just last night, as I was patiently waiting for my tea, I happen to hear a rather strange noise behind me.  I turn to see a rather stout looking fellow, who was in fact a gnome.  This of course gave me quite the fright as in the course of this natural world, I am not accustomed to such a fantastical meeting.  The second strange aspect of this meeting was due to the rather rude manner in which the gnome grunted and slammed down the delivered drink on the table.  Before, I could say a word the gnome vanished back to his duties behind the bar.  As odd as his behavior may have come across our bartender Hans, claims his behavior is quite normal.  I urge each of my readers to be on the look out at Brigid’s Cross, for our not so friendly gnome bartender.  Keep in mind that he may indeed be a rather intriguing acquaintance, but may not present the best manners.  What a rather unusual night at the pub. Luckily, Hans was there to bring me my tea.

Paul Bunyan

Ok ok…yes I know.  I’m not a fan of Paul Bunyan at all, especially since he is all over the place here in the north western part of Minnesota, and no one knows really anything about him.  And he cuts down trees.  I’m surprised his anti environmental behavior is tolerated. Anywho, These character designs were for a client.  However, they were not used, so I thought you may want to see them.
